No Photo Available! How Lazy Is That!

By
Real Estate Agent with Southwest Missouri Realty

No Photo AvailableIts really frustrating to me and most buyers to do a search for available properties and frequently see listings with "no photo available"!  How lazy is that?! In today's market we need to do everything possible to market our homes, including providing lots of pictures! Many listings require pictures anyway.

I'm getting ready to put not only pictures, but also virtual tours on all my properties to help them sell. If the listing agent doesn't take the time to properly post pictures, many times that listing will get passed over. This is a pet peeve of mine!

I absolutely agree. Unfortunately the client rarely finds out that photos were never posted for the property.

I went out and bought $1,500 worth of photography equipment only to find out that I needed to spend $500.00 more on a wide angle lens!  Then I read a post here on AR about a nice little digital camera that works great for taking pictures of rooms for a couple of hundred bucks!  I like my camera, but would have liked the extra $1,700 bucks better!

Thought you would get a kick out that!

Photos are what the consumers are looking for! Statistics really bear that out. Another amazing stat is that only 40% of listings on Realtor.com have more than 1 photo! Unfortunately, the lazy ones probably aren't here!

Many people search only for homes that have virtual tours. I had a REALTOR try to do that to me before I got into the business and I called the broker and they were out there with their cameras in 20 minutes. In todays world it could cancel a listing agreement because the REALTOR isn't doing their do diligence.

You are exactly correct. We are visual people...we like to see it! And, our customers are too.

Photos are very important.  Many of the buyers I work with won't consider a home if there are not photos -- virual tours don't mean as much -- often they are distorted.  The photos are key.

It happens in our area also.  Then you wonder why the person even has the listing.

I think too many realtors just don't have the technical savy. Then there's probably laziness and not really caring to do their best.

When you can, recommend that they take e-pro (although I personally didn't like it), at least it will teach them a little more about the Internet. I think I didn't like e-pro, because I was forced to do stupid tasks that I already knew how to do. And the tests are ridiculous; any question can have any number of answers. The first test I took, I got a 27%. That was the number of questions that had only 1 answer. But anyway, it would be helpful to someone with limitted Internet and email experience.

This strange phenomena has been addressed many times in the group: MLS issues. It is perplexing! Why would a broker allow an agent to present properties in such a manner? Some hypothesis is that they are trying to keep the sale of the home in house. Could it be possible the home is so horrendous that the agent, broker, and seller don't want it publicized?
