The Vermont Symphony Orchestra TD Bank 2014 Summer Festival Tour "Let's Dance!" with famed conductor Anthony Princiotti will be exploding with picnicking, fireworks and a world of dancing at Shelburne Farms on July 4th!
Gates will open at 5:15 for picnicking, with toe-tapping festivities beginning at 7:30 pm. Bring your favorite picnic foods, grab friends, family, or the person standing next to you and kick off your shoes! Feet-moving melodies by Strauss, Borodin, Gershwin and Delibes will have everyone dancing to hits from Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller under a banner of stars. Marches, fireworks, and the 1821 Overture will conclude an unforgettable show! Rain can't stop this kind of fun - if it does rain, the festivities will unfold at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction Vermont.
We think that Vermont Symphony Orchestra and Shelburne Farms is a combination that's tough to match:
Founded in 1935, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra Association, Inc., is a state-supported non-profit institution which exists solely for the purposes of encouraging and fostering an appreciation for music in all its diverse forms, with natural emphasis on choral, chamber, and finally orchestral music.
The Vermont Symphony Orchestra strives to raise the standard of musical education and enjoyment, and to provide quality performances for a broad Vermont public.
Governor Peter Shumlin agrees! In 2013, Governor Shumlin was quoted as saying, “The Vermont Symphony Orchestra has been a key player in this state’s arts community for nearly 80 years, bringing music not only to performance halls, but school gymnasiums, armories and even hillsides – anywhere Vermonters would gather to enjoy and share all forms of music. I appreciate the VSO’s commitment to our local communities, our schools and our vibrant arts scene. This is truly our Vermont Symphony Orchestra!"
