When the View in Your Back Yard is Terrible and You Can't Sell

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

I just listed a home on a former golf course (now private park) in the Lighthouse Marina in West Sacramento that has such a gorgeous panoramic view in the back yard, I'm certain buyers will want to buy that home for the view probably more so than its almost 5,000 square feet and 7 bedrooms. Fabulous views can sell a home, even if the home is lacking in upgrades. I bought my own home mostly due to its 1/4 acre lot and treetop views. One can fix an interior.

It's harder to change the location, but it can be accomplished. Presto, chango, nothing up my sleeve. Not every home I sell is in an excellent location like the Lighthouse Marina. Some are in a bad location, and those homes deserve to sell as well. You can read more in my personal blog today about a Solution for Selling a Home in a Bad Location.

I interviewed for one with a great pool backing to a major highway in our area.  Not an interestate, but a six lane thoroughfare with traffic at 50mph average.  He needs the world's loudest water fall in his backyard.  People will go out to see that gorgeous pool and will be hit with the sound of rushing cars.

Great solution Elizabeth.  A living wall works.

Unless the home needs to be torn down there is always a solution.

Excellent way of handling this situation, Elizabeth.  Some location issues may be a bit more of a challenge.

A six-lane thoroughfare with traffic in these here parts is pretty much a freeway, Chris Ann.

Hi Conrad: Well, that was one of my first suggestions.

Hi James: Yes, there is always a solution, isn't there. To anything. It's not always the solution a person gravitates toward at first but after a while it can begin to grow on ya.

Hi Gabe: I try not to be too judgmental about location issues because after all my clients chose it, and they chose it for a reason, which is why the next set of owners will choose it.
