My dogs go to great lengths to prevent the other one from getting their toys. Its not even that they necessarily want to play with the toys, they just to make sure the other dog doesn’t get to play with it. I took some pictures over several days of how they both do this.
She's got the tennis ball between her legs here.
He'll use it a pillow, to make sure she doesn't get it.
She's got the big ball in front, and the tennis ball behind her.
He can't relax, worrying about her getting hold of the ball, so he will just guard it for a while.
The tennis ball is between them as they wrestle over it.
This selfishness made me start to think about how selfish I am? Am I selfish? I would like to think I am not. I think in my personal life I actually put the needs of others ahead of my own too often and am not selfish enough. How about in my professional life? How do I feel about sharing?
We have a message board through our local association. The messages come through as emails and there are tons of them everyday. At different times throughout out my real estate career, I have unsubscribed to these messages. Sometimes its gets to be too much and I have tried to have then go directly to a separate folder to read them when I can, but couldn’t successfully do that. Lately, I try to read them all, they have some good information in some, so its worth it to weed through.
Lately, there has been a lot of talk about syndication and Zillow and Trulia. They had meetings last week to discuss possible directions to take with these syndicated sites, and the best way to protect the us Realtors. I regrettably was unable to attend, and am waiting to hear what was discussed.
There are some very different points of view being voiced about these sites. I honestly don’t have enough information about it to make a real decision on how I feel about them. I have to be honest though when I found out Trulia bought out AR, I wasn’t thrilled. The AVMs used on these sites lead to a lot of confusion for the general public and they are not very good about updating listings, when they are no longer available. These things add up to a lot of unnecessary aggravation. That doesn't leave me warm and fuzzy.
The one thing I do know for sure, is that the listings I put in, are my listings. They are syndicated to these powerhouse sites and they do get a lot of exposure. That can help us smaller brokerages, to compete with the national chains. That’s a good thing. The problem is,I just goggled one of my current listings, my website came up third in the list. Trulia was first, and since I don't pay to be a member, I am not mentioned at all, but all my listing information and photos are. That doesn’t seem right to me.Is it selfish to expect ownership of a listing that I did the work on getting, putting in and maintaining? I don’t think it is.
I think something does need to change here.
