What Type Of Impression Is Your Home Making? Webster defines impression as, "An idea or opinion about something or someone, formed without conscious thought or on the basis of little evidence".
With this in mind how do you think buyers would react to your home? What makes a buyer choose one home over another if both homes meet their criteria? As a Realtor I would tell you that first impression makes a huge impact on the buyer. If a buyer walks into a home that appears to be unkempt or needs updating they mentally begin subtracting dollars from the listing price. They begin to focus on the negatives and deferred maintenance issues instead of the space itself.
When selling your home the object is to appeal to as many buyers as possible. Take a moment to disconnect from your emotional attachment and try to view the home as a buyer would. Things that do not appeal to buyers are odors, loud colors, disorganization and bad curb appeal. Your audience will form an opinion in a matter of minutes so make sure the area they come into catches their attention in a positive way.
A Realtor will work with you to make sure your home is priced right and give suggestions that will make it stand out from the competition and impress buyers.
