Fireworks and American flag

Enjoy an all-day event to celebrate America’s Independence in Alexander County on Saturday, July 5, 2014!

The morning kicks off with the veterans dedicating a new flag pole at the County Administration Building followed by a three-block walking parade for children with their decorated bikes, trikes, strollers or wagons from Community One Bank to Town Park where the vendors and a variety of old fashion games/activities will be located throughout the day. At Town Park, there will be games, vendors, and much more for the entire family to enjoy.

A Cornhole Tournament begins at 2:00 p.m. at the ball field next to Taylorsville Town Hall (Town Park). First prize is $200, and second prize is $40. The first 32 two-person teams to sign up and pay the $20 entry fee per team are guaranteed a spot in the tournament. To register, mail your $20 check with the names of the two participants to: KK Riddle, 215 Woodridge Dr, Taylorsville, NC 28681. All players must be signed up by July 2. No entries will be allowed on the day of the event.

The culminating event is a FREE 20-minute professional fireworks display at the Alexander Central High School football field.
