Distressed Homes and Mold Alert

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with New Horizon Realty, LLC 0034929

Many homes which have been vacant have serious mold issues. The lien holders and property preservation companies that manage these homes have at best been white washing the rampant mold issues.

I have first hand seen hundreds of homes where mold treatment has consisted of nothing more than treating  the affected area with bleach and priming the discoloration. The mold growth that is not easily visible is left untreated.

The sellers have no obligation to disclose mold or prior mold treatment. Thousands of homes are now occupied that present substantial health issues.

When purchasing a home it is of tantamount importance that mold issues are investigated during your inspection process. If any mold or evidence is located, do not purchase the home until proper treatment has been provided. Do not rely merely on a standard home inspection.
