we were reminiscing about how real estate has changed. In Sedona, Arizona the contract was only one page long and easy enough to write. But if the seller lived out of town, the contract had to be mailed to the seller and then the listing agent waited for it to be signed and returned. There were no fax machines then.

Soon though the fax machines appeared in the offices in Sedona, Arizona and contracts and listings could be faxed for signatures, mailing the hard copy for wet ink signatures.

Then agents got their own home fax machines and you could work into the wee hours for your clients more easily faxing from home!

And now there is emailing the contracts, and esigning AND you can even do it from a hand held phone or tablet. Who would have imagined it would change so much the way we do business in small town Sedona, Arizona  What was it like in your town?

The advancements in technology year after year, are stunning.  My kids were born in 1988 so I remember so much of all sorts of little details about the cameras I had (real film) and cell phone, which was a suitcase with a reciever. lol

The same thing has happened to the home inspection business.  It used to be that cameras has this stuff inside called film.  Remeber that?  Now I use a digital camera and take 100 to 200 photos at each inspection.  I carry a tablet computer to take all my notes and email the report the report when it is finished.

When I startyed my business, I bought a machine to bind the report so it would look professional.  I used it a total of about 3 times and then I started asking my customers if they wanted a hard copy of the report.  Almost every one said no.  They preferred to have it electronically.  Now I do not use any paper at all.
