Plan to attend the 16th Annual Celtic Fling & Highland Games at Mount Hope, Pennsylvania this Saturday and Sunday, June 28 – 29, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. All things Celtic will be celebrated the grounds of the winery at Mt. Hope Estates just of the Pennsylvania Turnpike at the Manheim exit.

The games are fun to watch if you're interested in huge men tossing even huger poles like they're matchsticks, and there are a variety of other Highland games.
Mostly, we enjoy the various Celtic music groups playing at various stages on the Estate. Throughout the festival, there will be traditional pipe bands and modern Celtic rock bands with 13 entertainment acts.
The Celtic cuisine is delicious with the Scottish eggs being quite tempting, but we usually settle for Irish boxty, corned beef reubens or fish and chips. Regardless, there are plenty of different types of food in 23 different kitchens, and fresh brewed Swashbuckler ales and wine tasting too.
Folks dress up for the Celtic Fling much like they would dress for the Renaissance Faire, only with more green and men in kilts.
Visitors will have an opportunity to learn about clans, the Irish, Scots Welsh, Cornish, Manx, Bretons, and Galecians/Asturians, and search clan histories, with first-hand tour of cultures.
The available merchandise is about as good as you are going to get at any Celtic festival, including jewelry, hats, kilts, weapons, art, clothing and pagan items. There is a cool fairy type herb garden and shop too.
If you have never gone to the Celtic Fling or the PA Renaissance Faire at Mount Hope, I highly recommend it. It is a fun day the whole family will enjoy. It will certainly prove to be an unforgettable experience.
