DC Black Theater Festival

The DC Drama Department (DCDD) launched this festival on Thursday, June 20, 2014. But there is still time this weekend to experience Black art at its finest! The DC Black Theater Festival is sponsoring a 10-day festival celebrating
extraordinary stories told by people of African descent. This year’s celebration features 150 theatrical performances by local and national talent.
Appealing to an array of audiences, the festival is divided into five categories: full length plays, one act battles, workshops, new works reading series, and the directors challenge competition.
The DC Drama Department (DCDD), founded in 1986, is a not-for-profit, educational theater company known for quality productions depth and diversity. DCDD was founded for the purpose of educational and performing arts and prides itself on building excellent community and educational programs that teach, entrain, and enlighten.
