Trying to Get Pit Bull Rescued Off the Street in Calimesa but now Missing

Last Wednesday afternoon I was made aware that a Pit bull was living right outside the gates of my housing development. So I drove by the thick bushes outside the gates and there he was looking at me. Somehow I did not see any anger or meanness and strangely enough I did not feel fear.

That night, we went and gave him water in a huge plastic popcorn bowl. Then I put 4 cups of dry dog food in a Tupperware bowl and left it for him near his little hut area. He waited until we walked away and came out and drank the water and then ate the food.

Since then, I have been feeding him and giving him fresh water daily and made friends with him Friday morning. He got within 4" from me and I am sure he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Saturday when he saw the blue rope, he ran off but came right back as soon as the rope was out of sight. Here is a friend I met, Amber, who was showed up and tryed to get Buddy on the leash and take him to a shelter in her car. She showed no fear of him and it was just amazing.

Animal Control was called as we wanted them to use their noose just to get him into the car. Later in the day AC did come out and said he ran off. Now they are saying if we do not feed him for several days they will set out a big crate trap and put food inside it. I just think this is inhumane and it is now hot so if he gets in the cage, how long before they come back?

Anyway this morning he was not there. I named him "Buddy" and when I call him he usually comes to me but not today. Now I am worried something has happened to him. I checked off and on all day and lastly at 7:30 pm but he still isn't back. I am worried a rattlesnake or a pack of coyotes might have gotten him. I usually hear him howling about 9:00 pm and did not hear him just now.

My friend "Buddy" is missing tonight and I am worried. OH Buddy please come back. I found a shelter in Palm Springs and they were enroute but I told them to wait as it would be futile to drive here since he is missing.
There are so many dogs living on the street and people should not abandon their pets. They can take them to a shelter and many are no-kill shelters.
I have been putting it on Facebook for days and have met so many wonderful people who are animal lovers and many run shelters too. Everyone has been helping and it is amazing what a great group of people are rescuing pets and many lost pets are being found on the sites. This is such a wonderful network of animal lovers. I intend to get involved with a few organizations soon.
