No two real estate agents are the same, so if you are looking to hire me, you may wonder what sets me apart from my competition. Depending on whether you are a buyer or seller, what you see as value added may differ.
Having come to the world of real estate from radio marketing and retail sales, I know what it takes to get sold. As a radio ad sales rep, you wouldn't get repeat business if you didn't know the rules of marketing. And for each client I had to take a step back and see what I could differently to set them apart. It's that background that sets me apart from other listing agents that believe in doing things like brochures and broker opens. They do them because that's what people before them did. I don't see the point in the digital age where everything about a listing can be found while a buyer is in their pajamas surfing the web, or in front of the listing with their smartphone.
Attention to detail is something that both my sellers and buyers benefit from. Sellers love my listing photographs and property write ups. A lot of time and effort goes into making a great first impression with a listing. And when it comes to offers and contracts, that attention to detail is critical. Being a contract nerd helps as well. You don't want to hire someone that can't navigate their way through the contract.
Honesty is something that runs in short supply in our industry. It's not that real estate agents like to lie. It's the inability to level with a client and tell them the price they want for their house is unrealistic, or that the offer a buyer is about to write is not going to fly that I find lacking in my industry. Ultimately, you are hiring me to give you good counsel. If I can't be honest and up front, then we are both screwed. Telling you what you want to hear is not my specialty.
Everything in life is more pleasant if it is fun, and when it comes to work, I always have my sense of humor. Buying or selling real estate is serious business, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy yourself. It is my job to keep your transaction as stress free as possible.
