Why is it people who have the least waste the most?

Maybe it is because they waste so much that they have the least.

I am talking specifically about wasting money on electricity.  We all want to be comfortable.  With central heat and air conditioning, it is not hard but paying the electric bill can be.

There are many things you can do to save money.  One is to keep your thermostat at a reasonable rate. The electric company suggests not going below 78 degrees in the summer or above 72 degrees in the winter.  I try this but sometimes I just have to fudge myself.  I put it back after a little while.

I also keep my drapes and blinds pulled closed when it is the hottest part of the day in summer or the coldest in the winter.  I make the sun work for me.

Make sure the weather stripping around doors and windows is in place.  You can save lots of money here.

Turn off the television if you are not watching it.  That goes for all electrical devices.  I have seen people leave the TV on 24 hours a day and even buy movies that they never sit down to watch.  What a waste!  They never even think about it!  That is what surprises me.

I work hard for my money and I want it to go as far as it can to make my life better.  I like being able to pay my bills on time and buy a few extras.  Saving money gives me these options.

If only those who waste so much would understand this concept and care.  I know their lives would be better and their children's lives too.

Ricki...My thoughts exactly.  I see this and other wasteful ways of people who don't have extra...but could if they just tried a little bit.

Ricki, You are exactly right.  One of my last Buyers unable to obtain a mortgage because of a very low credit score, arrived in a Cadallic Escalade, wearing Jimmy Choo heels.

I developed the habit years ago of turning a breaker to the off position for rooms, appliances (whirlpool), A/C, heat pump, etc. when not in use.

I've cut elec. use to about 1/4 of what was once routine.
