There are a lot of things in life that end up being a turning point to put us where we are today. My life didn't turn out anywhere near where I expected when I started on my plan in life. When I was thinkign about leaving the Army I figured I would go to Penn State University for Finance and end up working on Wall Street somewhere as an investment banker. I enrolled at Penn State after the Army, got into the finance major and started at the University Park campus after a year at the York Campus of Penn State.
My first class, literally first day first class was a Fundamentals of Real Estate class taught by a local real estate agent, Scott L. Yocum. I really enjoyed that class and at the end Scott said that he needed some part time computer help in his real estate office. I sent in my resume and he hired me on. After working in his office for a few months I thought that maybe I'd go to law school after college and practice real estate law. A few months later I thought it might be a great idea to get my real estate license so I could do more around the office. Right after I got it I sold my first house and those buyers referred another buyer. I thought "This stuff is easy!" The next few didn't come as easy but I stuck with it.
Earlier this year I becamse business partners with that real estate instructor I met on day one. We've been working together for over 10 years now and have a plan for me to eventually take over the entire business. If it wouldn't have been for that one class I took the first semester I probably wouldn't be where I am today.
