This 8 foot sliding glass door has been a problem for years in this Rancho Cordova home; we have ordered a new sliding glass door to install.

Funny how we will put up with doors and windows that aren’t functioning correctly in our own home for the longest time. We find ways to “get it to work” or choose not to use it at all. We do that for years and sort of forget that it was a problem until someone else notices or doesn’t understand why you have to “work it”.

Most doors in Rancho Cordova function the way that they should, opening and closing smoothly and not fighting to get it to move or latch. If this is a problem that you are having, consider having it looked at by a professional. A contractor with experience may be able to fix the problem or replace the door so that you can use it as designed.

The sliding glass door that we looked at today has been in awful shape for decades. The latch is missing, but since the door rollers were broken the door did not roll without a pry bar. It had been pulled for so long the glass was coming out of the metal framework. You door doesn’t have to be like this, contact a contractor in Rancho Cordova.

Tom, as Realtors, we frequently see "interesting" DIY repairs.  Often, the homeowner is concerned about the cost of the repairs and finds a "temporary" solution that works for them. Some of the time the temporary solutions become permanent.

It happens to many Sharon, I'm sure there are things around my home that have been temporary for a few years now.  :)

Wait a minute?!  My door doesn't have to work like this?

Actually it doesn't, but my screen door does!  The dogs have chewed it up.  Replace and get damaged again, or replace just as we move?

Tom, you hit on an interesting point. Why are we so ready to fix other's problems and ignore our own? Hmmm.  BTW, that's a rhetorical question!! LOL

I did adapt!  I put on a protective cover to "protect" the screen!  Didn't work!  It was a very nice try though...
