Those Awkward Moments - Coming Face to Face with a Monster

Responding to this month's challenge of telling about some awkward moments we have had in our real estate career, there probably are several but one stands out.

I have always been, I hate to say scared, but uncomfortable with big dogs, especially when alone with them.  I have had many experiences when a tenant or an owner has a big dog when I visited their home and the pet owners always says sounds like "he won't hurt you" or "he never hurt anyone" as the dog growls at me. Yikes!

But one time I was checking on a property that was supposed to be vacant and for some reason I didn't have a key or some reason I need to go around back of the house.  So I go around the right side of the house by myself and as I turned the corner, ran right into a lager angry German Shepard dog.  He was almost a startled as I was and that made him even madder.

He showed his teeth and growled and we stood about 5 feet apart looking at each other for what seems like a long time. Finally I kind of walked backward slowly around the corner, being careful not to run. I made it back to the car and got safely inside, but he gave me an awkward moment, that's for sure.

I have had a couple of such instances with BPOs several years back.  It is very scary!
