Everyone Loves a Parade.

WE hit this small town parade every year.

It is close to our cabin.

Sad part, we don't see the high school marching bands anymore.  No matter what parade, if there is one we are lucky.

Parades have become and have been for years a place to advertise your wares and tout your Political ambition.

For us, it has been a candy collecting time.  Sometimes even a useful trinket comes along.

But, we go every year...it's a tradition!

William.... all parades in small towns seem to be a lot different....  I think school budgets have forced elimination of extra curricula activities like music and band....

William~ I love a good parade. I remember going to parades near my grandmother's house when I was growing up. She live in Queens, just a few houses down from the elevated train. The parade route was under the train tracks. We'd sit in our folding chairs, waving our flags and I'd wait for the bands. That was my favorite part!

Bill, those arts programs keep getting cut year after year....and there is little money for instruments and instruction, let alone uniforms and travel expenses.

Happy Fourth to you and yours!

William, it was so funny to watch my adult daughter who recently moved home from another state. She heard there would be a parade that would come from the high school behind us and being she had witnessed many grand parades in her childhood, she took her lawn chair and went to sit at the corner to watch. Well, after two black cars and a police patrol car passed, everyone started leaving. She asked one of the people what time the parade would start. They replied that it had just passed. Yep, no more high school bands, floats, marching organizations and fun.  All gone in today's world, at least where we live. I had a very disappointed daughter carrying her lawn chair back home. Hahahaha. Expect next year we will only have the police patrol car and it looking for any part of a parade it is supposed to lead.

It is sad not to see the marching bands any more.  Some of it is budget cuts, but still sad.
