For those of you unfamiliar with Portland, Maine, How do I start. I fell in love with Portland over 25 years ago. I have lived and worked here ever since! Portland offers cultural activities, a great music scene, a mecca for foodies with a vibrant restaurant scene, of course natural scenic beauty. Nestled on Casco Bay, this friendly and accessible (walkable downtown)(Portland's Old Port) offer the allure of a bigger city but retain the small town community feel that we all find so aapealing. As Spring & Summer release the grip of a long winter this year. Visitors from away and Tourists Stars& Stripes Spectacular Portland, Maineflock to Portland, Maine to soak in the scene. With no shortage of activities to entertain even the most fickle, Portland is a cornucopia: whether you enjoy sipping a local brew and munching on fresh lobster, taking a boat cruise on Casco Bay or exploring all the city has to offer. You will not be dissapointed.

One tradition that is a perennial favorite with locals and our seasonal guests alike is our official Star$ Stripes Spectacular Indepence Day celebration. In Maine, the 4th is sort of our official kick off to an all to short but glorious summer. Held on Portland's gorgeous Eastern Promenade, this community celebration has the small town charm, a parade, food vendors fill the air with wonderful aromas and treats. Grab a spot on the grass and settle in for a great evening of music, performances and the star of the show: an awe inspiring fireworks display greeted by the huge crowd with approving oohs, ahhs and cheers. It is a wonderful atmosphere as young and old come together to celebrate America and their spectacular little corner they call home: Portland, Maine Have a safe and happy Indepence Day.
