Recently I had the opportunity to volunteer with our Lancaster office agents over at the 2014 Builder’s Blitz at Lancaster Habitat for Humanity. It was great to meet all the “regular” volunteers and tradespeople working on the site, and we brought along another twenty helpers of our own!
Lancaster Habitat is adding two new duplexes to the property this year during the blitz, joining the 6 they built a few years ago along Fairview Street in Lancaster City. To learn more about the Builders Blitz program check out this link.
Another local Lancaster company, Stoner Bunting Advertising, was there on our day and they provided a great barbeque lunch for all the volunteers, which was gratefully accepted by all. During the morning I had the chance to chat with Lancaster Habitat’s Executive Director Stacie Reidenbaugh and the organization’s Communications Manager Valerie Hoback. It was very interesting to hear their passion for improving housing in Lancaster County and to talk about local government, land planning and other topics. I’m always pleasantly surprised at how much our profession of Real Estate dovetails with other community initiatives and concerns.
All of our agents and staff who volunteered had a great day and all for a great cause! And… we’ll be back to help again.
