Throwback Thursday: The Black and White Beach is Colorful Memory

Myrtle Beach 50'sAs time flies by, memories become sparse and monochromatic.

Using snapshots found in boxes, taken by my parents, I’ve been able to reconstruct history of early days at Myrtle Beach.

Bet at Beach

Thankfully, I do have a Kodacolor memory of that time period in the 50’s, unprintable images of memory I can still see, and will cherish forever.

What great photos and memories.  I still take black and white photos from time to time... there's something about them I like.

Hi Bette, That's what is great about memories, we can picture in our minds, just what it was like 50 years ago.  Sometimes we can even smell that greasy wonderful cheeseburger we ate back in 1956, or the smell of the water on the lake that was down the road, where we grew up.

Hi Tammy, The black and white photos seem to really concentrate on the subject itself, that's why I enjoy them so much.

Larry, It's interesting, they say scents can be made from photography.

Sheila, there seems to be something about black and white photos, more emotion perhaps?  Having to look deeper?

Hi Robert, thank you for the "feature to the group."  There is something so "pure" about old black and white photography, and these photos give me a feeling I just can't explain.

Bette,

I have some monochromatic photos hanging around in boxes passed on to me by my parents.. I really should get them out and scan some of them in.

Bette, your pics remind me of many photos I found when my mother-in-law passed. A wonderful visual history where time stands still.
