Mama Gator - Before & After At John Chesnut Park in Palm Harbor Florida

A few days ago I wrote a blog and posted photos of mama gator in John Chesnut Park in Palm Harbor Florida but now have to share the before and after photos with you!

Before the park realized that they had a mama gator - a LARGE mama gator - right next to the boardwalk with a nest of eggs  (covered but you can see the mound) that she was protecting, you could take photos of her easily.

caution, mama gator

I am guessing that most people do not realize that they CAN jump and are extremely fast for short periods. Perhaps people were reaching across the boardwalk railing for photos or even lifting up children that the little ones could see mama gator. Little ones look like an appetizer to mama gator, so NOT a good idea.

Anyway, the park has put up a fence now with signs that there is a gator there and it is dangerous. So much for great photos of mama gator at John Chesnut Park in Palm Harbor Florida.

For me, the fence is a great idea. Taking a close look may be a bit less stressful.

Now, that is something I have never seen except in zoos.  (Shudder!)  Thanks for the instructions on that photo, or I wouldn't have found her!

Barbara-Jo.... I'm glad the park is taking serious efforts to protect the Gators from humans! Tourist, children, parents, and people of ALL ages just don't get it, do they? But if there was a tragic accident the stupid ones would know they could sue the park and that in itself would be another tragedy, wouldn't it?

Barbara Jo,

I really like these mama gator pictures. The park did the right thing by putting up the fence.

When it comes to gators, it's probably good to have the fence.  Equal protection for them as well as humans.

Barbara-Jo, I can appreciate any gator from a distance, especially a mama gator protecting her babes-to-be!

Barbara Jo, mama gator probably did think the kids were very snacking looking.  People don't realize how quick the guys are.
