Horse Racing Returns To America's Finest City

For the first time since I can remember, this year's race meet open on a Thursday. If you haven't been to opening day, brace yourself! More than 45,000 are expected to attend this year with more than 20,000 expected to enter into the annual Best Hat Contest. But what about after opening day? That's when the real fun begins! Of course there will be some of the best horse racing in the country but lots of fun Concerts and Festivities.

4 O'Clock Friday's Concert Series
The firat thing I want to cover about Concerts And Festivities For The Horse Track Meet 2014 in Del Mar, CA are the Friday concert series. Every Friday following the races walk over to the Seaside Concert area West of the Grandstand. Concerts are free with admission unless you arrive after the last race, then tickets will cost $20. Here's the line up for this years shows-

Saturday Festivities Not To Be Missed

July 26 - San Diego Beer Fest and Beach Towel Give Away - there will be over 100 different craft brews to sample during the Del Mar Racetrack Beer Fest held in the Seaside Concert area West of the Grandstand. Available for purchase beginning at 1:00 p.m.

August 2 - Weezer in concert - Back by popular demand are alternative rockers, WEEZER, live in concert from the Seaside stage, west of the Grandstand.
The concert will begin shortly following the last race, scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

August 9 - Del Mar Grill Fest Followed By A Concert By The Counting Crows - The 2nd annual BBQ grilling festival held in the Seaside Concert area on features the flavorings of more than 25 seasoned BBQ pros and local restaurants serving up meats, seafoods, veggies and deserts. Get your fingers on the delectable grub by purchasing five sample-size portions for only $10.Counting Crows play after the last race.

August 16 - 4th annual Gourmet Food Truck Festival - Enjoy a variety of some of the hottest eats in Southern California as 50 food trucks are expected, all in one location, with gourmet chefs serving their eclectic bests at super prices (most items $4-$8). Participating trucks include fan favorites such as The Grilled Cheese Truck, Cousins Maine Lobster, The Lime Truck, The Lobsta Truck, and Devilicious! Pair your food items with several cold brews on tap in the beer garden.

 August 30 - WIENERSCHNITZEL WIENER DOG NATIONALS- SAN DIEGO FINALS - Find out who has the fastest wiener in San Diego. The fastest 16 wiener dogs from earlier qualifying rounds will meet to determine the San Diego qualifier for the Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals. Three races will take place on the track in front of the Winners Circle. Two semifinal races will occur after horse races 2 & 4 with the finals after horse race 7 (approximately 5:10 p.m.)
