Monument in Marshall Park

If you get a chance to visit Marshall Park in the Coloma, CA – be sure to get over to the monument. John W. Marshall is credited for being the first to find gold in Coloma, this led to the Gold Rush and changed California forever.

Though he did find gold, he was not much of a business man, and walked away to get a regular job working for someone else.

Cool photo Tom. At least he got a monument in his honor, if nothing else. :-)

The history of the Gold Rush is pretty fascinating Paul, hard to believe it all started right here.

I've been there and seen that, Tom!  I usually make it up to Coloma at least once a year, with a grandkid or two.  The history surrounding that little community is of epic proportions.

The history of these foothills is quite amazing Myrl. I think it is sweet that you bring your grand kids to share that history with them!
