When I need to get away from the office, I often visit the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge near Zimmerman. I live very close. Lefty and I love to roam the woods. Lefty likes it maybe more than I do since he loves to hunt, too.
The Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge is a great place to hunt one of my favorite birds….ruffed grouse. And, Lefty has a talent for hearing them long before I do.
This is a great place to camp, hike, snowmobile cross-country ski, and, in general, refresh and renew yourself in a natural setting.
It has quite a few visitors, human, animal and avian throughout the year. And, you might find an Indian artifact, too.
Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge is a 30,700-acre National Wildlife Refuge in Sherburne County, Minnesota. The habitat it protects is a mix of oak savanna, Big Woods, and wetlands. The St. Francis River flows through the eastern side of the park.
Visit www.fws.gov/midwest/sherburne or for more information on the refuge.
Then, come on out and visit us. And, call me….you will want to live here!
