Building a Business - Webinar Reflections

This past week I attended an excellent webinar featuring Jeremiah Taylor and hosted by Bob.  The discussion was about building a business versus working solo.  Many of the concepts are things many of us know.  We know that we should read The Millionaire Real Estate Agent, even if we are not part of Keller Williams.  We know that the methods and ideas presented in the book are tried and true.  They work.

MREAJeremiah or I should say Mr. Taylor has read the book and worked the book and now enjoys a level of success that many of us dream of and have not achieved yet.  He is a student of The Millionaire Real Estate Agent, and he has made the book work.  He is living, walking, breathing testimonial of MREA.

He also embraced the Robert Kioshaki Four Cashflow Quadrants concept which I found to be very helpful when I started working the real estate brokerage business.  Think about your role in real estate today.  Are you

  1. an employee (example you work for someone else for a bi-weekly paycheck),
  2. self employed (most agents are which makes true vacations or getting ill a serious challenge),
  3. a business owner (a broker who is not relying on his/her own production for income) or
  4. an investor (money is working for you and you simply look at income and expense statements each month)?

Cashflow QuadrantI have been in the business for about eleven years.   I started my own brokerage business at the end of 2009 so I celebrate five years in November.  Even with my small group we all work pretty much solo, and I work in my business (I have my own production) and on my business.

This year I made a change and am now embracing more of a team concept and sharing imcome and expense.  It has been an EXTREMELY challenging way to conduct business, but I think I like it.  Attending the webinar reinforced many of the new ways of doing business I have embraced.  I am in the infancy of building a business team.

One more quick nugget I got from the webinar.  Check your listings on ZTR and make sure they show up with your profile.  Otherwise you may not get the traffic from potential buyers coming to you.  I assumed that my listings were populating to Z&T with my information and I was wrong.

Check out the webinar using the link above.

Thank you AR for another awesome  webinar!

Robert Kiyosaki, author of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" is really on the "money", no pun intended, with his cashflow quandrant.  Bottom line is becoming an entrepreneur vs working for someone else building their wealth.  Leveraging others to create streams of income and having your money work to create streams of income, truly will create wealth!
