Richard, I'm a huge fan of our county library system and use it at least weekly. I haven't done any E-books and I'm not sure I would unless that was the only way a book was available. I'm hoping it's a long time before the hard books are history!
Richard... I can so relate to this. The library is such a sacred place to me, though I admit I don't spend anywhere near the time in them I use to. Yet, I don't know what I'd do if they were gone. Like many from our generation, one of the most important things to me through life was to having my own home library. For much of my life I wanted a big home with library. But I ended up with condo that has books everywhere. Oh well... "I've never let my schooling interfere with my education." - Mark Twain
I used to feel the same way Richard.
Then I discovered how much I love and prefer reading copy with a backlight.
I'm conditioned.
Richard,
My mother was a special librarian (Food and Science) and started special libraries for Green Giant, Pillsbury, Del Monte, RJR Nabisco. We had books all over the house. My dad was an avid reader, and I started reading at 3, and still read at least one book a week, I do get it. We used to go to Hawaii to get destress with a suitcase of books...Now,, it is so much easier to download them...Ron and I have a collection of art books, and those are so precious, they are better read than downloaded. From one Book-head to an other, the library will always be one of my favorite places to spend some quality me-time. I love the convenience of ebooks, but also hope that the physical libraries with real paper books will remain.
I know how you feel! I still love the feel and smell of books, BUT I love the convenience of deciding at midnight I want to pick up a new book to read - and Amazon is waiting there for me, no muss, no fuss.
