Staging your home may seem like a daunting task, however, it could make or break the sale of your home.
Let me explain....
Look at the photo above. Doesn't it look like a cozy, warm, beautiful space that you could relax in after a long day at work? Well, it didn't look like that 15 minutes before we took this photo!! That's all it took for us to clean up this room and stage it to sell. 15 minutes!
Key tips to remember:
1. Declutter. Hide the 8 remote controlls!! Put magazines, books away or stack them nicely on an end table. Do not leave your stack of dvd's out! Organize the kids toys in their rooms! Remove the cluster of picture frames! Think minimal. Your home may look a bit bare, and that is okay.
2. Clean- Vacuum your furniture so it looks new again. Sweep UNDER the furniture! Wash the windows, touch up marks on the walls, wipe down the plate covers for your light switches, make sure all your light bulbs work! Oh and please.....scoop the litter box and take out the trash.
3. "Stage"- Fluff the couch cushions, buy some clearance pillows at Target or Home Goods (my fave) to add a pop of color, place a small plant on a table to add an earthy element. Minimize the amount of "stuff" on the walls, pick a few of your best wall decor items and rearriange them. Look in all your rooms for pieces that can be used somewhere else. Find your nicest big bowl from the back of the pantry (you know, the one for special occasions) and place some fresh lemons in it and set on the table or counter. You don't need ot go all out, you can easily use what you already have.
4. Keep it that way!!- You can have showings at any time! Have a convesation with your family or anyone living in the home, let them know they need to keep the home immaculate at all times. Make a chore chart for daily items like vaccumming or fluffing pillows.
Many buyers love when they walk into a home and its clean, well maintained and move-in ready. You WILL get more money for your home if you show the buyer that you care for it. I promise!
