Village Creek, South Norwalk, CT
BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE CREEK IN SOUTH NORWALK, CT
Village Creek is one of Norwalk’s best kept secrets! It is a planned community built in July of 1949 by forward-thinking innovators.
Village Creek was built on one of the last remaining undeveloped waterfront properties. It is 37 acres and includes 67 individual homes on their own lots in Norwalk, CT.
One perk at Village Creek is its 800 feet of private beach. There are also tennis courts and a new marina that is perfect for sailboats and offers low prices!
What is perhaps most special about Village Creek is its reason for existence. In an age of racial and religious discrimination, Norwalk residents wanted to build a community for diversity:
“We were looking for a good place in which to live and bring up our children, a community which would be in itself a model of democracy. We wanted a healthful place to live, waterfront view, closeness to New York, nearness to schools, stores and local centers of employment. But above all else we wanted a community with a completely democratic character - no discrimination because of race, color, creed or politics.” (1951)
If you ask residents today, they agree that Village Creek still lives up to its ideals. Village Creek is truly a gem of a community in South Norwalk!
