BREWERIES IN GOLDEN, COLORADO
There are some great Breweries In Golden, Colorado, and the first up is Barrels & Bottles Brewery. This unique brewpub owned by Zach and Abby George, offers 22 premium-style hand-crafted beers along with some special Guest taps. They also offer 24 different wines on tap and in the bottle and they have one of the state's only fusion towers. The bar itself is built out of old doors and barrel staves from Rocky Mountain Barrel Co. and all the tables and barstools are reclaimed as well.
Next is Golden City Brewery. This microbrewery was founded in 1993 by Charlie & Janie Sturdavant. They used the old machine shop behind their historic Golden, Colorado home as the brewing room and the once used dairy tanks have been replaced with real beer fermenters. The tasting room which was originally in the sunroom, is now in the carriage house of the home, but the backyard is still the beer garden. The brewery produces Red & Pale Ales, along with other brews.
Mountain Toad brewing just on the other side of Clear Creek from Golden City Brewery. Named after the Rocky Mountain Toad that lives along the riverbeds, canyons and marshes of Colorado, it is also a small microbrewery, offering a quaint and comfortable atmosphere for locals and visitors to unwind with a handcrafted pint. It was founded by four engineers with ties to the Colorado School of Mines. Being engineers, they have built everything themselves, from the brewery equipment to the “Carefully Crafted” beer recipes. They specialize in craft American ales and of course offer other varieties.
These three breweries bring in locals from the many condominiums and townhouses in the area. It is this new element of historic charm and modern renewal that is bringing home values up and making the area more attractive.
Cannonball Creek Brewery is next on the list of Breweries in Golden, Colorado. It was founded in 2013 by Jason Stengl and Brian Hutchinson who both learned the craft at the Mountain Sun family of breweries in Boulder, Colorado. Cannonball was the original name for Clear Creek which runs through the middle of Golden, hence the name giving some historical significance. They do not stick to any one particular style of beer but do keep their main four on tap most always.
Just outside of downtown Golden, most of the homes in this neighborhood are newer in construction, and the area is still growing.
And last but definitely not least is MillerCoors Brewery, definitely not a microbrewery. The original Coors Brewery was opened in 1873 by Adolf Coors and in recent years Miller Beer, founded in 1855 by Frederick J. Miller of Milwaukee, joined with Coors and it became MillerCoors. They have combined experience of over 300 years and have refined and improved their brewing process over these years. They survived the Great Depression, two world wars and Prohibition and now offer over 30 different beers.
MillerCoors is located on Clear Creek, just 8 minutes from downtown Golden. However, the tour begins at 13th St and Ford, just a block from downtown. MillerCoors employs over 8000 people which helps keep Golden prospering and growing.
