- Remember the song.....?.If Ihad a Million Dollars. Just a few years ago.....$1,000,000 seemed like a phenomenal amount of money....I mean it still is ..but certainly not even in the realm of what it used to me........To be a 'millionaire' used to be a rarity.......almost out of reach...and as kids I remember on our more boring playdays dreaming up the answers to that question.
Well yesterday I heard the song on the radio again....I'm talking the Bare Naked Ladies Version...
.
But the part of the jingle that stuck in my mind - was the........If I had a million dollars.........I would " buy you a house".......And being a Realtor......well of course...it's a catchy tune! lol....
I think we all know.....that it doesn't take a 'million dollars' to make us 'rich!'.........You can't put a dollar value on what it means to be rich in love, friendhsip, faith....
But just for fun...I thought it might be fun.....to play the game again..."If you had a Million Dollars"....what would you buy? Todd: I wanna know how you add the signature! tried with no luck...lol hmmm would you do the same with 3 teenagers? grin
Erby: Only spend 50K....wonder where some of those special places might be? But now thats cool - that you would keep doing what you're doing because you enjoy it!
Chuck: College funds are big in the States aren't they? I don't find that Canadians for the most part prioritize saving money for their kids college.....to that same extent! And Chuck........if I were Oprah....I might make the question a bit more challenging, lol.......but yes..........you'd All Win! lol.......Oprahwannabe
Matthew: Money can do that can't it - buy us 'some' peace of mind.........: I didn't see any 'fun' in that equation though......but then 'fun' is a pretty subjective term isn't it?
Mark: I have to say travel would be big on my itinerary too..........And Seattle my Sister city......(Vancouver) definitely has a lot of 'room's with a view!" :-)
Rachel: Buy a house for your sister too! How sweet! I spent a year in Australia...but I've never been to New Zealand........they say its a lot like British Columbia......you have family there....or is it just one of those 'i've always wanted to go there!? places.....?

If I had a Million dollars to spend I would give it all to Shrinners Hospital in Philadelphia PA, those folks do some amazing stuff for the kids.
There are presently 80419 members here if we all made a donation of just $12.43 cents it would total 1 million dollars, just think what that could do for the kids?
I'd go scouting out various Real Estate investments. A week in Vegas, a week at various beaches and resorts, fine dining, etc. I would then send back all my data to my wife and kids to showcase my travels. Then when the next million came, we would be ready to invest. It would be a tough job, but somebody has to do it.
I guess I could spend a little on the family though. I would let them Supersize their meals at McDonalds one time.
Gary: Shriner's hmmm interesting..i'll have to check them out - they must have touched your life in a special way to donate ALL of it to them! :-)
Sally: Yes it would be so wonderful to help out our kids/parents in that way - and personally? I'm all for donating to Women's Shelters!
Chad: You funny guy you....:-)
Hugh: I see you've been giving it some thought! cool.......biblical degree...thats interesting ..:-)
Liz
The way I see it is that I would only blow it, might as well blow it on something worthy. And yes they have touched my family and I in a special way. My daughter was born without a hand and they help with prosthetics and we are the lucky ones there are kids in there without arms and legs and broken backs and they fix them all and help the kids live normal lives with dignity.
Liz,
I'm not sure what I would do with it. I would first take a trip to the Islands - ya know - St. Thomas, St. Kitts, and after having a few tropical drinks and a little relaxing...... I'd decide. A million doesn't go that far anymore, so you'd have t be careful. And don't forget how much ya gotta pay the taxman.... Did you buy a lottery ticket??
Melissa
Many Many moons ago I taught self defense classes at a batter womens shelter and although it gave the women a sense of confidence, I think that kind of money needs to go towards educating the women in the homes so that they could support their new lives.
Gary - Thats amazing......! The average person probably wouldn't have any idea - how they provide that type of support........and what a blessing to your daughter and family they have been!....I like your idea about self-defence classes being taught to women in women's shelters......I think they do in some.......what was that Jennifer Lopez movie....where she trained for something like that?
Mellisa: Yes, I see this is a common threat.......sad to say........but the shopping part - is fun to say! lol
April: Smile -I didn't buy a lottery ticket....or win.........it was just a random thought triggered by the song I heard on the radio that day! Here in Canada - the taxman does not take his share on lottery winnings..! yahoo..........now you just have to win it!
I would look at how to buy myself "OUT." Pay off everything, by setting up a interest baring account to pay down outstanding debt, except the tax write off mortgage on the 'off grid sustainable farm." If there was enough left over I would like to be a majority but silent partner in a nice B&B in Ireland. Ok, so one mil might not do it...
Great question!
Liz
I have no idea about that movie with Jennifer Lopez. and yes we do feel blessed with the opportunity the have afforded us.
Jessica
That sounds nice, If I were to go I would want to take a cruise to Alaska and perhaps spend a month or two exploring in the summer time.
Michael: Buy yourself out ! What a concept! :-) I'd go for the B&B in Ireland too - but yes it might have to be a wee bit more then a million!o
Jessica! I'm with you- I'd do an around the World trip too!
Gary: Alaskan cruise sounds great - my girls went with their dad last summer and loved it!
Ok, I'm going to start visualizing myself on a plane headinig to...Hmmm? Start with something exotic like India.
