As a kid I never appreciated the untapped skill I had around a golf ball. My parents would take me to one golf tournament after another and the only thing I could think of was, what had I done to be punished so? These feelings have long since passed and now I can’t get enough of the sport, and I often regret not putting the effort forth until I got older. But enough about my glory days. If your child shows a true aptitude for golf I recommend starting early. However, playing on a course and plowing through range balls might not be enough.
The area we live in is a great place to tailor a young golfer. Lessons are very affordable, can be very fun, as well as rewarding. A few places I would recommend: Timber Creek in Webster/Houston Bay Area, and Beacon Lakes in League City. Now if your future Tiger Woods shows a real affinity for the game I would, dare I say it, put them in tournaments. For the young’uns, Little Linksters is a definite must, but as they get older STPGA and HGA come highly recommended if you want the closer tournaments. Initiation is usually around $100 for a league and the events vary from course to course. But be aware that this route to stardom is not for the faint of heart, make sure you the parent and your child are both ready for rewarding adventure your about to embark on. Now could not be a better time, because summer and golf go hand in hand. With that said, dust off the old irons and get crackin’! For more info on the area visit http://leaguecitytexashomes.com.
