Do You Have Squeaks in Your House......One Simple Quick Fix WD-40

Do you have a door or a cabinet that squeaks all the time or a chair that is driving you nuts.

Do You Have Squeeks in Your House......One Simple Quick Fix

When I have a squeak in one of my listings, I always zap it right away but when it is your own house, you say I will do it later.

Do You Have Squeeks in Your House......One Simple Quick Fix

This morning we went through the house and squirted WD-40 on all the squeaks. But then we pulled out one of the office chairs. We spent an hour or more and took off all the hardware and then put it back on tighter and sprayed WD40

Sometimes those squeaks are like scratching your fingernails over a chalk board. But we tend to take care of our other homes first so my suggestion is to grab a can of WD-40 and go through your house and fix the squeaks.

There are hundreds of other uses with WD-40. Remove paint, gum, rust, rubber cement. Also lubricate bikes, appliances, hinges, locks, etc.

I love WD-40. And buyers don't like squeaks, it screams "old, not working properly!"

Hi Mike,

It is something that works on so many things. Once I had used double sided tape to hang a long evergreen garland on my wooden staircase. Worked great but after removing the garland, the tape wouldn't come off so I tried everything and hoped not to ruin the finish on the wood. Finally I found an article about the 100's of uses for WD-40 so I tried it. Took some elbow grease but removed the sticky tape and make the wood look nice and shiny.

Hi Suzette,

You are so right as squeaky doors and cabinets say "old and rustic".

Kristin-Sometimes I wish WD-40 would work on my joints-knees, elbows, shoulders. They squeak sometimes too.

Hi Wayne,

You make me laugh but I totally agree and wish there was something to oil our joints.  I also wish they had a product like Lime-Away that was safe to rinse your mouth and get rid of plaque so the dentist didn't have to scrape the tarter off.

Great post Kristin. WD-40 is much like duct tape. One or the other will solved just about every situation.  We need to keep both in our tool kits at home and in the car!

Hi Trisha,

When I am going to one of my listings, I always carry a can with me as it is a good cleaner, oiler, and whatever else I need.
