Using Panoramic Shots in Tight Spaces
When I think of a panoramic shot I think of mountain ranges or ocean front views, not tight spaces. I learned something new that now makes a lot of sense. I will be using this function on my iPhone more often now.
I wanted to get the entire visible coast line from a pier down in San Diego a while ago. I used the panoramic function. By clicking the button and moving the phone the length of the coast, the phone produces a long seamless imagine. It is a very useful function.
Recently, I was trying to get a photo of a small kitchen. I wanted to get the upper and lower cabinets on both side of the kitchen but there was no place to stand to get that shot. I couldn't move far enough away to get both side, top and bottom.
It occurred to me that the phone could get the shot in two photos but it would look so much better as one. That's when I remembered the coastline shot and thought that maybe I could do the same thing but in a much shorter span.
It worked, it was exactly what I wanted to get.
The point here is that the panoramic function in the iPhone can be used in any photo that can not be gotten in a single shot, not just the long panning of mountain ranges and skylines. Remember this the next time you wish you had a special lens or better angle to shoot the shot that you need.
