I'm Not So Sure ActiveRain is Going To Work For Me Anymore.....

I just read the news on Inman. It certainly is a little scary, no a lot scary. Will be interesting to see what the soon to be corporate giant will do. When does the profit center show up?

I read the news earlier today and wondered how long it will be before we are all working for Zillow in one way or another.  Their plan is to be the Amazon of real estate and they are well on their way.

I think you have every right to be concerned.  When companies exhibit monopoly like powers they often times don't care for the well being of those beneath them as they don't have to.  All bets are off on the monthy rates!

I think it's always been in our best interests to have our own alternatives (e.g. backing up our AR blog posts and having a WP site of our own).  Even Bob Stewart has advocated that periodically.  Even if Z does buy T, I think it might literally be years before they'd get around to figuring out what to do with AR, and that's assuming they'd decide to do anything active at all.

I read all the hoopla & I wonder if it is just a Z fake press release? They are indeed a strange bunch & I truly believe they will envelop & gobble all those standing in their way. If AR gets eatin up, it will be sad but we can export our copy to a WP site & do just as well. In fact, there are some that have already jumped ship with good results. There is something said about putting all your eggs in one basket. I like the interaction here & that will be shame if that goes away.
