Hybrid Cars Need Jumpstarts???

By
Mortgage and Lending with National Credit Fixers - Matt Listro

So I am sitting back and enjoying the summer, playing the car radio and just enjoying the weather and then the radio dies.  Well that's not cool is it!  Turns out I drainned the battery and my Lexus Hybrid needs a jump start.  You can imagine my surprise, I did not think hybrid's needed jump starts - aren't they suppose to be immune to that sort of thing?  Take it from me - learn from my mistakes - hybrids can and do need a jump start if you drain the battery.  Oh well a little damped on my summer fun but a life lesson learned - I am always finding these great ways to expand my knowledge base (insert chuckle here).

:)

Matt- your car has a regular battery like every other car for starting, it also runs radio and headlights and interior lights when the car is not running, it has an alternater that charges that battery (when it is running on gasoline).  It also has a different battery that runs the engine when coasting or idling...

Guess you didn't read your manual when you bought the car eh?

I did not know that Hybreds would ever need a jumpstart.  Thanks for the info.

Good morning Matt,

All vehicles have the battery to get things going; however there is no alternator as it is charged by the generator to keep all the batteries charged.

Make yourself a great day.

It's a good thing you were not out in the woods somewhere enjoying the radio and the weather when it happened. :)
