The Company Camel
The new company commander Captain Smyth , was greeted upon arrival to the small African outpost by Sargent Favishum and shown around the desert encampment in a matter of a few minutes. The Captain asked about the small building and corral just a short distance away from the mens barracks. The Sargent Volunteered that it's where we keep the company Camel and that the men take their turn with the beast on Saturdays by signing up in advance. The Captain not wanting to have anything to do with such a thing dismissed any further discussion. Time in the desert doing endless army exercises seemed to drag on and on without a change of scenery or the company of the opposite sex. After several months of desert life, the Captain asked the Sargent if he might put his name on the list. Delighted the Sargent replied I anticipating your change of heart, I took the liberty of placing your name on the list some time ago and as luck would have it, Sir your turn is this Saturday night. At the Appointed time the Captain Arrived at the stables and began to undress, neatly folding his pressed jacket and removing his pith-helmet. When all the sudden a few men began to gather around with loud cheers and whistles they began to egg on the new Captain. Smyth called the Sargent over to protest this gross invasion of his privacy, after all the other men had had their chance with the company Camel. A sheepish Sargent Favishum whispered to the Captain "You see the other men sign up to ride the Camel to Town Sir".
