California Desert

A client is happily ensconced in her new digs in the desert after the hassle of selling one property and purchasing a replacement home.  It's been a hectic couple of months but we pulled it off even as she continued to run her home-based business and the thermometer soared into summer triple digit territory.

Last night she felt she finally had the chaos under control and treated herself to dinner and a movie with a friend.  When she returned home the house was as hot as the outdoor temperature and the air-conditioner was dead quiet.

The California desert can be unmerciful with its steady heat and unrelenting sunshine making air conditioning is as important as heat is in cold country.  I received a text at 10 PM.  " AC not working and I'm dying."

Thankfully, she was exaggerating, but fortunately she was able to go to a friend's house and I scheduled a rush service call with the home warranty company.  Naturally, today is Sunday and the home warranty representative could not promise a Sunday service call, but how great it was to be able to say to my client, "Relax, we've got you covered."  It may take a day to correct the problem but Charlemagne International Properties never closes an escrow without a home warranty in place.

So much for a relaxing Saturday night.  :)  But hip, hip, hooray for home warranties!

Things never break at convenient times, do they?  I'm with you 100% about home warranties. I've not had such a dramatic use of one, but they have saved my buyers much grief. Stay cool today!
