A Tale of a Lost Dog, Diesel, Who Was Found ![]()

My friends relayed this story to me as they know I am involved in rescuing animals. This story bares repeating♥
They went camping in Arizona and of course it is about 114 degrees in the daytime. They always take their two Yorkies with them but take extremely good care of these little doggies. Anyway, they went off to swim for a couple of hours and when they came back, on of their dogs was missing, little Diesel that weighs about 3 lbs.
So they went down to the water, checked the area and started driving around. They reported it to the Shelter the following day and started making posters and posting them around the area and put them on many of the trash dumpsters.
Meanwhile 2.5 days later a trashman was working the late shift and when he went to the dump, he noticed a little dog that was filty dirty, tired, hungry and thirsty. He picked this little guy up and dropped it off at home and had his wife give him a bath and food/ water. He went back to work and sometime during the night, while picking up dumpsters he saw the 'Missing Poster' and called the phone number.
Of course my friends were so excited to get him back and took him to the vet nearby. After some tests and two visits, he got a clean bill of health. And I am happy to say that Diesel is back home with his family and sister and doing just fine.
Oh, when I heard this story my first question was how did he get out of the RV? A family friend opened the door and then went searching for him but....when he couldn't find him, he just didn't say anything and of course several hours passed. The family is very upset still over this unexcusable act.
I follow the FB pages on missing and found pets, and always tell them to put out posters. Just this weekend 4 dogs were found and 2 of them from posters they saw. Facebook networking is also very successful. In your area, there are probably many sites people post lost pets on. I am so busy selling real estate but rescuing dogs is my second job.
