As a former arbitration judge for the Minnesota Association of Realtors Ethics and Arbitration panel, I have heard a myriad of stories related to "BAD" or ineffective Realtors®. It is imperative you choose your Realtor® as carefully as you would your next home.
From my first real estate transactions in my early twenties to today, you learn from experience every single day. Profit from my experience!
SHOPPING FOR A REALTOR
Four questions to ask:
1. Are you full time or do you just dabble in Real Estate?
One cannot stress enough the importance of choosing your professionals carefully. Just as you wouldn't seek guidance from an inexperienced/part-time attorney or doctor, you need and experienced professional in your corner to assist, guide and protect you.
2. References
Utilizing the internet and Google to research prospective Realtors® or talking with friends and family who have had a positive experience is a great place to start. There are plenty of agents doing one or two transactions or less a year. You cannot, by any measure, be good at anything unless it is highly repetitive.
When researching be cautious when you see words like: ethics, honesty and integrity describing an agent. As a Real Estate BROKER and member of the Minnesota Association of Realtors, these words are the baseline of our code of ethics, they are the MINIMUM standard.
At Sabinske and Associates our clients understand the risk and complexity involved in any Real Estate transaction. We council from the Chief Operating Officer for the Minnesota Association of Realtors, local and national news media, (WCCO, CBS) to the first home buyer.
3. Communication
Does the Realtor answer the phone during normal business hours/return calls timely?
4. Cost
What is the TOTAL cost not just a percentage or flat sale rate, ask for all costs, admin, broker etc.
As a BROKER with hundreds of homes sold, our clients are in the best of hands.
Give us a call, you will be glad you did.
And by the way, we never charge any admin/ Broker fees to our clients which is NOT the norm in the industry! $$$
TESTIMONIAL:
Don, it was a pleasure having lunch with you today. Your knowledge of Real Estate and the steps required to do it well were impressive and reminded me of why I love to represent people like you. Thanks for the time and knowledge sharing.
GLEN DORFMAN, CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER, COO, MINNESOTA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS (RET).
Don has sold and helped us buy two houses. If I were to describe him in one sentence, it would be that "he is the consummate professional that can effectively help his clients navigate the challenging waters encountered when buying and selling real estate in today's complex market". Don's experience, and sincere desire to do what's best for his clients, helped us save money on both ends of the two transactions where he was our agent. I would highly recommend his work and results oriented approach to representing his clients.…
