FHA Condo Approvals – Ask Mr. Condo

fha condo approvalBob Gourley is Mr. Condo.  He is the Chair of the Public Relations Board of the Connecticut Chapter of CAI.  His Ask Mr. Condo site is a place where folks can go and ask questions about anything condo.  It is a fantastic resource for condo and other community association members, boards and property managers.

His articles are typically of the question-and-answer format as he fields dozens of questions every week.  I don’t know where he finds the time to answer them all.

One of the recent articles was posed by a unit owner who was looking to obtain a reverse mortgage.  The condominium project is not approved with FHA so the unit owner was not able to obtain the loan.  He asked Mr. Condo what could be done to persuade or even threaten the board to get approved with FHA.

Mr. Condo is a proponent of FHA condo approvals and recommended attending the next meeting with an expert on the topic.

Eric-I only average 1-2 condo deals per year. They are far tougher to get a transaction completed in the units do not qualify for FHA/VA financing. Many condo boards are unwilling to get certified. Short-sighted in my opinion but that's just me.
