Don't Think Pink!

Home Stager with Karen Miller, LLC

Love it! Love it! Love it!

Pink is my favorite color. I wear it all the time. I have a stainless-steel watch with a pink face. And I even had my business cards and letterhead designed with 3 shades of pink, gray and black. Cool, huh!

I would love to stage a pink bedroom -- pink bedding, pink curtains, pink, pink, pink! But I haven't allowed the personal (pink) side of my brain to take over the staging (neutral) side of my brain.

Here's why. Pink just doesn't appeal to everyone. It appeals to some women, but not most men. it isn't neutral. And neutral is the cornerstone of staging.

So, if your "pink" urges start to overtake you and you begin to "think pink", remember the following words of wisdom about staging.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT YOU. This is about staging the property to appeal to the largest number of potential buyers. So, DON'T THINK PINK.

Hi Karen,  So what is the "color" to use this year--if there is one?

I am a blue kind of guy. I like every thing to be blue. I also understand that it does not appeal to the most number of buyers so I go neutral.

Hi Leslie,

A very popular color for walls in Philadelphia is historic gold.  Most furniture goes with it, and everything looks great against it.

I have also had clients in Dallas who had every room painted varying depths of this color before I worked on their house.

This definitely is the "color", and it's great!

You sound like my daughter she is 21 and loves pink. In fact she just ordered a new laptop from dell and it is pink.
