There has been a lot of information and opinions going back and forth over the merger of Zillow and Trulia. In a post by Jon Kolsky -A Ton of Unanswered QUestions About Z & T Merging there was a comparison and I thought it was negatively implied that Amazon has negatively impacted book publishers.
What Amazon has done is shown how great eBooks can be for the benefit of the consumer, publisher and author.Which in turn gives us a public that reads more which from my poiunt of view (even being a realtor) is a very good thing.
Before you jump up and down, please remember that it was not Amazon that was found guilty of ebook price fixing or conspiring with publishers on price fixing. It was many others that included Apple. Perhaps Zillow may be like one of those or perhaps they maybe like Amazon. We don't know yet.
However, if Zillow can do to real estate what Amazon has done for the consumer, publisher and author in the book industry, I would not mind Zillow doing that for the Agents, Buyers and Homeowners. To better understand the details please look at this link and let me know your thoughts.
Personally I don't think the book industry compares to real estate. Therefore I do not think the analogy is correct but I certaionly will stand up for Amazon for what they did to to the eBook business. Yes they make a nice profit but the publishers, the authors and the consumers all benefit. How is that bad?
