I showed property on Thursday to some buyers from out of state. The husband has been transferred and thus the move needs to be completed as soon as possible. With them was there 15 year old son, who seemed at best mildly interested in the process. He spent most of the day under headphones and with an I Pad mini entertaining him.
We went into one house that was very representative of the properties we had looked at all day. As we looked upstairs the son stayed downstairs. Suddenly he came bounding up the steps proclaiming loudly and excitedly "mom, this is the house we're buying".. His excitement was amazing. He turned and bounded back down the steps as we followed. He shoved the garage door open and practically yelled, "when we move in that's mine!"
As we looked into the garage there was a 1969 SS 396 Camero. It was cherry red and as far as I could see immaculate. It was beautiful. He proclaimed again, that when they move in that it would be his.
With the parents nodding approval I explained that while the house was nearly empty, anything still in the house or garage was the property of the owner and the car would likely be gone if they were to purchase the home.
Whether you are 15 or 50 sometimes reality bites.
