WOW, check out the new street level views on google mapping now ! It's fantastic. Never been in a certain neighborhood ? Well...now you can take a "drive" down the street by clicking on the arrow on the street and it will progress you down the street. This is only available in certain cities around the U.S. currently. It's available for St Petersburg, FL and Tampa. They haven't done every street, but the streets they have done will be marked in blue. Have a look, it's just awesome. http://maps.google.com/
