How Many Times Do I Need To Fix

 This Same Stucco Column?

I have done more than my share of stucco patching in the past. New windows, new doors, car accidents, and wall alterations can all involve the patching of stucco. If I do a good job in the repair, it should last for many years to come. Generally, that has been my experience.

The exception would be the repeated impact of motor vehicles. Cars and trucks can do quite a bit of damage to stucco. That is exactly the call that I got today from an apartment manager. It seems that a stucco column support the carport got hit by a vehicle this weekend. Perhaps it was a moving van.

This is the same column that I have patched several times, including replacing entirely in the year year. Stucco is strong but not strong enough for this type of impact. We will have to come up with a new plan to prevent this from happening so often. I got a few ideas to to throw at them tomorrow.

Maybe you can melt metal flakes and coat the column with them?  That's stucco over stucco.  It should be very strong.
