Powder Springs GA Schools

A fantastic article was just published in the local paper about the great work that Jeanne Walker has been doing the last couple of years as the principal of Tapp Middle School in Powder Springs. Here is a link to the article.

Those of us who live and work in the West Cobb area know that the schools have often gotten a bad reputation. Cobb County in general is known for Nationally ranked high schools, high standards, and high parent involvement. Not so much for the western side of the county.

But all that is changing! Talking to parents who have children in Vaughn Elementary, Powder Springs Elementary, Tapp Middle School, and especially Mceachern High School, you wouldn't know about that reputation. Most of the parents I speak to are involved and happy about the improvements they are seeing in the academic programs. And its nice to see that the administrators and teachers are being noticed as well!

Of course, nothing is perfect, and there is always work to be done. But the fact that people are involved enough to complain, and work to improve the situation, is a good sign for the health of our West Cobb schools.

Property Values are fantastic in Powder Springs. You can get a lot of house for your money. Don't overlook a great bargain because of an old perception about the school system. Do your due diligence, talk to teachers, parents, and administrators, and decide for yourself if a school is appropriate for your family.
