"Let's just laugh about this..."
I was having one of those days where everything that could go wrong did. You know the type of day where your likely to put the cereal in the fridge and the milk in the cabinet? The type of day where you decide to wear white and your morning cup of coffee...quite by accident. I took my kids to our house in NH, a long drive, it was late and the tenant had not left the key... ugh. Frustrated ...I opened my car door and my 13 year old in her most cheerful voice said...."remember, you are only given what you can handle". At that moment, I was torn between flipping her a gesture I have not used since childhood but knew she would understand and hugging her. OMIGOD ... she IS listening to me? When our own words come back to us threw our little ones it is pretty scarey. Needless to say... I did not gesture... just smiled before having a mini break down. The next morning we all woke up in a nice hotel room and much to my chagrin... when I unplugged my cell phone from the charger...the entire inside came out on the plug of the charger....WHAT? How could this happen? How could I work remotely without my phone? Again, on the brink of hysteria... my bright eyed teen turns to me... puts her hand on mine and says..."Let's just laugh about this, shall we?".... I have created a monster. Was she mocking me? No, just learning. We did laugh...because of course the day went on with a similar theme. Thank God the kids were with me and kept me from completely losing it... Then I found the Verizon store... took 2 hours to replace my phone (for free, thank you...) and when it was returned to me... NO KIDDING... They had programmed it for SPANISH. Spanish? Spanish? Man, I would love to be bilingual but I am completely white bread... envious of anyone who can speak any lanquage and I would have to hire a translater to get my 18 messages out of my voice mail... this was not good. Let's just say by the end of my 3 hour visit to the Verizon Store everyone in there knew I did not speak spanish and we were all... "just laughing about this". Except maybe the technician... Waiting for the other shoe to drop...
