Real Estate Agent with Long and Foster Manassas

As some of you may have seen from earlier blogs, I moved last year.  Last week, I decided to claim one of the rooms that had turned into an "I'll get to this stuff later" storage space.  Here are some gems from my efforts.

These two handsome gentlemen are my grandfathers from my Father's and my Mother's side respectively during WW I.  I know Grandpa McCormick (the first one) made it all the way to Washington, D.C. during the war.  I'm not sure where Grandpa Moore served.

This is, after all, a real estate area.  These two images are from a Warranty Deed executed by my Great Great (I think) Grandfather, Adam McCormick. As far as I can tell, there were three or four gentlemen who spent their time buying and selling pieces of land to one another between the early 1860's and 1900's.  I selected this one since it was dated November 20 (my birth date).  If you can't read the rest of the date, it says 1863.

The second image is a portion of the details of the Warranty Deed.  We talk about tax stamps in real estate; that dark area near the bottom of the image is a tax stamp (I think).

Happy Thursday, everyone!

Very cool.  Thanks for sharing these, Pat.  I don't know if I have any old deeds or anything like that in my family.

I love going through old pictures and similar family-related stuff.  We only found the old deeds a couple of years ago.  Of course, finding things like these while trying to get something accomplished severely disrupts the task.

Your "I'll get to this stuff later" storage space reminds me of cabinets out in my garage.  This spring I went through them after years of neglect, and was shocked at what I found in there.  It was like opening a time capsule.

Thanks for sharing these old soldiers and documents, so nice to see you preserving these memories.

By the way, for anyone who would like to get a closeup look at these or other images in blogs, just put your curser over them and right click your mouse then click "view image".
