WHERE DID MNSIR GO?
If you ever pass through the Westborough rotary (corner of Rt. 30 and Rt. 135) you probably have noticed that the building where 25 West Main Street once stood, has been knocked down. You may have even wondered what has happened to Mathieu Newton Sotheby's International Realty (MNSIR), who used to reside there.
If you are not familiar, Mathieu Newton Sotheby's International Realty is a Westborough-based real estate company that is owned and operated by Mike Mathieu and Edward Newton III. Mike and Ed are both Westborough natives and have worked together over the past 10 years. Mike has held the spot of Westborough's #1 Realtor® over the past decade and has been in the business for an impressive 40 years.
After a 6 month application process, Mathieu and Newton were extremely excited to open a Sotheby's International Realty branch in April 2013 at 25 West Main Street, Westborough. The team is currently operating business right around the corner at 3 Milk Street (behind Classique Consignment and above the old Piccadilly Pub). There are 11 other Realtors® working at MNSIR along with the Office Manager/ CFO, Justine Mathieu (Mike’s daughter) and a Social Media Director.
The team plans on returning to the 25 West Main Street location once the new building re-opens in Spring/Summer 2015.
I sat down with Ed and asked him a few questions about MNSIR and the move:
Q: Why is the 25 West Main building being knocked down and what can we expect with the new building?
A: We’ll be moving from our temporary space on Milk Street of approximately 1,000 sq./ft. to the new building at 25 West Main Street with over 3,500 sq./ft. The building will afford us the opportunity to provide in-house interactive technologies for consumers to search real estate listings all over the world. They’ll be multiple conference rooms and we are working with a local architect to create a gallery for local artists and collectors to display their passions.
Q: What does MNSIR offer compared to other Real Estate companies in the area?
A: We are a “mom and pop shop” with a big brand behind us. I would have to say the best thing we have to offer our clients is our unmatched use and understanding of internet marketing through third party syndicates like www.realtor.com, www.trulia.com and www.zillow.com (Zillow and Trulia are the process of merging). We have many incredible features on each of those sites that set us apart from the competition. Our own site www.mnsir.com is also a huge asset as the site can be translated into over 16 different languages (and growing) reaching a much larger range of buyers than any other real estate site. Giving away more specific secrets to our success would be the equivalent of a top local chef or bartender publishing their secret recipe for their homemade concoctions. In other words you’ll have to sit down with us to truly experience the MNSIR difference.
Q: Does MNSIR focus on real estate outside of Westborough?
A: After 40 years in the business, Mike focuses only on the town of Westborough which enables him to spend every waking moment serving his clients inside the town borders. Our other agents have served clients all over Massachusetts resulting in a rewarding experience for all parties involved. We have found that many agents in other offices spread themselves thin like butter over too much bread by taking every listing possible. Agents at MNSIR don’t do that. We prefer to match our quality marketing with quality properties and quality clients wherever they are.
Q: Is MNSIR expanding?
A: Only on an as-needed basis. Once again stressing the importance of quality versus quantity. Mike and I have no interest in becoming the area’s largest real estate firm if it means having subpar agents. We’d prefer to personally train our agents one-on-one so that each and every client gets top notch service as though they were dealing with me or Mike directly. Each agent is an extension of us and therefore must offer clients the best in work ethic, character, commitment and dedication. We’ve interviewed over 30 agents and only hired the 11 that were the right fit for our office atmosphere and our clients.
Q: What if I am interested in buying or selling real estate; who do I contact to get the process started?
A: You can visit us on the web at www.mnsir.com. There, you’ll find cell phone numbers and email addresses to all of the MNSIR family. There are also links on our site to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+ and YouTube.
