August brings monsoon storms, sunflowers and photo opportunities!
July brought us 8 plus days of 90+ degrees where my outdoor activities were limited to early morning hours or trips to the foothills to avoid the heat. With predictions of daily isolated storms, I look forward to potential photo opportunities that feature dark, angry skies.

This time of year, I search east of town for fields of blooming sunflowers. Because fields are rotated yearly, this is an annual event to find the magnificent, golden flowers. I lucked out yesterday...not only stormy clouds, but a field of massive blooms.

I also was able to capture an airplane taking off from Denver International Airport with a backdrop of dark, angry skies. The storms broke up for a short time but returned later in the evening. Ah, August, you have so much to offer!
